Scotland The Bread at Bowhouse March Food Weekend

Join Scotland The Bread at Bowhouse’s ever-popular Food Weekend from 10am – 4pm on the 9th and 10th March. Our stalls will have bags of flour available for sale, alongside sourdough starters and Bread Matters books that explain everything you need to know about why and how to make nutritious, tasty bread at home.
We are particularly excited about March’s market; for the first time we will be joined by Wild Hearth Bakery, who are taking a stall for their wonderful wood-fired Real Bread baked using our heritage flours.
In 2018 we first harvested our nutritious and traditional grains on Balcaskie Estate, where Bowhouse is based. These are now milled onsite to produce a range of flours that is nutritionally strong and good for the soil in which it is grown too. You’ll be able to watch our Zentrofan flour mill in action – the first in the UK. This is the ideal opportunity to find out more about the Real Bread movement and the difference between properly made bread and mass-produced loaves.
We are always grateful for volunteers to help support our stalls on market days. If you have a spare couple of hours and would be able to lend a hand bagging and selling flour, talking to people about Real Bread and earning our eternal thanks, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, we’ll be inviting as many people as possible to become shareholders in Bread for Good Community Benefit Society (which trades as Scotland The Bread) and thus support our work to change Scottish bread for good and all. Shareholders get one year’s subscription free which entitles them to 15% off the cost of flour.
