Ceramic Bread Dome 2024
With Flour to the People design on lid.
These domes are designed to go into an ordinary domestic oven, where they create the effect of a brick oven, producing a beautiful, rounded loaf with a crisp crust and moist crumb. Most of the baking aromas that normally drift round the kitchen so temptingly are trapped and concentrated in the crust, which tastes remarkably sweet and nutty.
The domes are made by potter Douglas White at his studio between Edinburgh and the Borders. Instructions will be included when the dome is sent to you.
Stoneware Bread Baking Dome
Stoneware crock in two parts: flat baking base and domed lid
Total height: 11cm
Diameter: 28cm handles incl.
As with all oven to tableware, care should be taken handling very hot dishes.
Suggested use of the bread baker.
The bread dome should be pre heated together with the oven to reduce thermal shock.
When removing it from the oven, use all the usual health & safety precautions you normally do when handling hot ovenware, adequate oven gloves etc..
Don’t bring the hot crock into contact with cold or damageable surfaces or water, this can cause thermal shock and may cause it to crack.
When removed from the oven, a stable wooden chopping board is an ideal surface to place it on.
